2007 police encounter: MP High Court issues notices to 14 cops
Indore, Feb 26 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court hasissued notices to 14 police personnel including a formerSuperintendent of Police in connection with an allegedencounter, in which a youth was killed in 2007.
The Indore bench in an order issued yesterday soughtreplies on a petition which described the encounter as "fake"and appealed that it should be looked into by the CBI.
The petition was filed by Durlabh Gohil whose son Ashishwas killed in an encounter with the police on the night ofJuly 21, 2007.
Justice S C Sharma of the bench issued notices to thenIndore Superintendent of Police, Anshuman Singh Yadav, threepolice stations in-charge and 10 more police personnel.
Gohil''s advocate Manohar Dalal charged that the policehad shot at Ashish by framing a false story and hence thekilling came under the category of murder.
Police on the other hand said that Ashish was looting atruck with an accomplice in the bypass area and when policereached the spot, the two started firing and Ashish died inretaliatory fire while his accomplice fled away.
Dalal said that according to the post-mortem report,Ashish''s body bore only two rifle bullet marks and the other15 were caused by beating with a heavy thing.
