Aizawl, Feb 25 (PTI) The Mizoram government todayissued a prohibitory order banning import of chicken, egg andall products made from chicken from neighbouring Tripura stateand Myanmar, where bird flu (H1N1) was recently detected.
An official statement said that bird flu was detectedon January 18 at Sittwe district in Myanmar, the country whichshares 404-km long international border with Mizoram.
The avian influenza was also detected on February 9 inthe Tripura government-run R K Nagar duck farm where more than30,000 ducks and chickens were culled.
The state government, apart from imposing aprohibitory order on import of chicken and egg, also alertedanimal husbandry and veterinary department officials on theborder areas to maintain strict vigil.
It was suspected that avian flu in Tripura might havecome from neighbouring Bangladesh.
