New Delhi, Feb 24 (PTI) Hitting back at the Oppositionfor accusing him of "creating a mess", Prime Manmohan Singhtoday said they need to educate themselves on the globalopinion about India before pointing fingers at him.
"Whenever I go abroad, people marvel that there exists acountry like India...We are now world''s second fastest growingeconomy... People talk in terms of an Indian model of growthwherever I go. It is only in our Parliament that the Leader ofOpposition and some other friends regard us as a purposeless, non result-oriented government," he said in his reply to thedebate on Motion of Thanks on President''s address to theParliament.
Singh was referring to Leader of Opposition in the RajyaSabha Arun Jaitley''s statement that the Prime Minister was a"distinguished economist but made a mess of this country".
The Prime Minister said Jaitley should "educate" himselfon the opinion of the international community about Indiainstead of criticising him and his government.
Referring to the washout of the winter session of theParliament, Singh quoted a Urdu couplet, "Kuchh aise bhimanzar hain tareekh ki nazaro mein, lamho nai khata ki thisadiyon ney sazaa payi hai (There are instances in historywhere people had to pay for centuries for a mistake of amoment)."
