Doping controversy hits Games Village

By Pti

Ranchi, Feb 24 (PTI) Controversy hit the National Gamestoday when syringes and vials were allegedly found at thewrestling venue here, pointing to possible doping even as theJharkhand Wrestling Association vehemently denied any wrestlerusing drug.

"We have deputed ten persons to keep a strong watch overany drug-related incident. I am also overseeing everything.

How can only one news channel pick up a stray syringe in thetoilet and that too even before the wrestlers reached thevenue this morning," JWA president Bholanath Singh told PTI.

He was replying to a query as to whether syringes andvials were found in the toilets by the cleaning staff at theGanpatrai Indoor Stadium at Mega Sports Complex.

"The venue had also hosted Taekwondo, gymnastics andother competitions before wrestling started yesterday. How canyou say that the syringe found in the toilet was ofwrestlers?" Singh asked.

"It is absolutely wrong to say that whatever stuff foundin the toilets belonged to a wrestler," Singh said and addedhe would call a press conference to clarify things.

"So far there is no doping incident," he asserted. PTIPVR PDS
