Los Angeles, Feb 25: David Beckham, the former English football captain is back with the Los Angeles Galaxy. The star footballer reported at the club's training camp on Feb 24 that a two-week delay has been caused due to his extended stay to train with English Premier League side, Tottenham.
Beckham said, "I could have been sitting on the beach somewhere, which obviously was an option...But at my age, and at this stage in my career, I can't afford to take three months holiday."
Further explaining the reason behind his stay at Tottenham, he said, "My main objective was to get fit for the Galaxy and the MLS season," and added, "My objective wasn't to play for a Premiership team. Even if I would have been on loan and even if I would have played the games, this was the time I was always going to come back. That was agreed and nothing was going to change."
Injury-plagued for the most part of 2010, he had to miss the FIFA World Cup in South Africa as well as a big part of the Major League Soccer season.
This is the fifth year of Beckham's five-year, $32.5 million deal with the Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy. There are chances that he may return to England, after being offered an invitation by Tottenham Coach Harry Redknapp.
