Congress demands committee to probe MOUs by MP govt
Bhopal, Feb 25 (PTI) The main Opposition Congress todaydemanded setting up of a committee of MLAs for probing thestatus of Memorandums of Understanding signed by the MadhyaPradesh Government from January 1, 2007 to January 31, 2011,through several investors'' meets in the country, and abroad.
Raising the issue during the Question Hour, the DeputyLeader of the Congress Legislature Party, Choudhary RakeshSingh Chaturvedi, said that during this period State hadinked 195 MOUs, and spent Rs 1.56 crore on organising 21investors'' meets.
Chaturvedi said that out of 195 MOUs, 57 were annulledlater.
Disagreeing with the demand, Parliamentary AffairsMinister, Narottam Mishra (replying on behalf ofthe Industries Minister, Kailash Vijaywargiya) said therewas no need for such a probe.
However, Chaturvedi said that if it was not possible toconstitute the MLAs'' committee, then the Speaker should referthe matter to any Standing Committee of the house for probe.
To this, the Speaker Ishwardas Rohani said it would havea detrimental impact on investors and discourage others frominvesting in the state. .
