Lucknow, Feb 24 (PTI) CBI today conducted searches atthe office and residence of a senior government engineer inUttar Pradesh in connection with a bank fraud unearthed inneighbouring Uttarakhand.
The searches were carried out at the Kanpur office andLucknow residence of Arun Mishra, a chief engineer with UttarPradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) inconnection with financial irregularities uncovered at two PNBbranches in Uttrakhand, official sources said here.
Financial irregularities were detected in Dehradun andHardwar branches of PNB in 2005-06 after which a case waslodged against some persons, including bank managers, sourcessaid.
The inquiry was later handed over to the CBI, whichlodged a case in January this year, they said.
The CBI suspects that Mishra connived with bankofficials and played a role in the fraud.
