New Delhi, Feb 24 (PTI) West Indies today suffered a hugeset back with all-rounder Dwayne Bravo ruled out of the WorldCup because of a knee injury that he suffered during theiropening group B match against South Africa.
"Bravo has suffered a cartilage damage in his left knee.
MRI was done today and results confirm the injury. He willneed minimum four weeks time to recover and is ruled out ofthe World Cup," West Indies Philip Spooner told PTI.
Spooner said Bravo would return home and a replacementfor the 27-year-old allrounder would be named after ICCapproval.
Bravo had slipped on his follow through when he wentacross the pitch trying to stop the ball after South Africancaptain Graeme Smith punched it towards mid on in the 14thover during their match at the Feroze Shah Kotla stadiumyesterday.
He had bowled just 2.1 overs and was taken off from thefield immediately and Kieron Pollard completed the over. WestIndies had lost the match by seven-wicket.
It is a fresh blow for the West Indies team, which isalready grappling with injuries after their opener AdrianBarath and wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh were ruled out of theWorld Cup before the start of the mega event.
