TN to provide free mobiles for farmers
Speaking at a six-day training programme on 'benefits of participatory irrigated cropping system,' which concluded yesterday (Feb 23),TNAU vice-chancellor Dr Muruges Bhoopathi said that considering the success of its Agriportal, the proposal was sent to the Government, since there are 81 lakh farm families in the State.
TNAU was also involved in providing market price informati information for various perishables such as fruits, vegetable, flowers and plantation crops through SMS, which was sent to more than 25,000 farmers and extension officials on a daily basis, Bhoopathi said.
