Kochi, Feb 24 (PTI) A man suffering from endlife renalfailure has been given a new lease of life after a well knownKerala industrialist donated one of his kidneys to him.
A team of doctors of Lakeshore hospital here led by DrGeorge Abraham, Urologist and Dr Aby Abraham, Nephrologistperformed the surgery here yesterday.
Industrialist and Chairman of V-Guard Group KochousephChittilappilly and the recipient Joy Ulahannan are recoveringafter surgery, hospital sources said.Joy''s wife has also promised to donate her kidney toanother needy person, the sources said.
Chittilappilly had a couple of months ago, decided todonate one of his kidneys, inspired by Father Davis Chiramal,who had donated his kidney.
He was the first donor of a kidney bank, set up recently byFr Chiramal.
Chittilappily, heading the Rs 500 crore V-Guard group, wasin the news recently when he donned the role of a headloadworker and unloaded a few cargo boxes of V Star creations, asister concern of the group, after some trade union activistsdid not permit his workers to unload the cargo.
