Kochi, Feb 24 (PTI) A man suffering from endlife renalfailure has been given a new lease of life after a well knownKerala industrialist donated one of his kidneys to him.
A team of doctors of Lakeshore hospital here led by DrGeorge Abraham, Urologist and Dr Aby Abraham, Nephrologistperformed the surgery here yesterday.
Industrialist and Chairman of V-Guard Group KochousephChittilappilly and the recipient Joy Ulahannan are recoveringafter surgery, hospital sources said.
Joy''s wife has also promised to donate her kidney toanother needy person, the sources said.
Chittilappilly had a couple of months ago, decided todonate one of his kidneys, inspired by Father Davis Chiramal,who had donated his kidney.
He was the first donor of a kidney bank, set up recently byFr Chiramal.
Chittilappily, heading the Rs 500 crore V-Guard group, wasin the news recently when he donned the role of a headloadworker and unloaded a few cargo boxes of V Star creations, asister concern of the group, after some trade union activistsdid not permit his workers to unload the cargo.
