Kalyan Mazumdar re-elected Secretary of East Bengal club

Kolkata, Feb 24 (PTI) Kalyan Majumdar has been re-electedto the general secretary''s post of the East Bengal club afterhe beat challenger Kallol Dutta by a margin of 1299 votes heretoday.

The election was held on last Sunday while the countingof votes concluded late last night and the result wasannounced by the General (Retired) Shankar Roy Chowdhury, whowas appointed as Special Officer to conduct the club electionby Calcutta High Court.

All the candidates who filed their nominations from theruling group won their elections.

For the first time in the history of the club, a ladymember, Moly Ganguly, wife of former India soccer captainBhaskar Ganguly who played as goalkeeper for the club for aconsiderable time, has also been elected as a member of theexecutive committee.

The Club president is nominated by the executivecommittee and Pranab Dasgupta, who was president last time, islikely to retain his post this time as well.

Other office bearers of the club elected are:

Assistant Secretary: Dr Shanti Ranjan Dasgupta,Treasurer: Santosh Kumar Dutta, Accountant: Tapan Kumar Das,Football secretary: Santosh Bhattacharjee, Cricket Secretary:Sadananda Mukherjee, Hockey Secretary: Rajat Guha, AthleticsSecretary: Devdas Samaddar, Tennis secretary: Manas Roy andground secretary: Dipankar Chakrabarty.
