Mumbai, Feb 24 (PTI) The Bombay High Court today allowedthe private unaided institutions to conduct their own CommonEntrance Tests for post graduate diploma in businessmanagement'' (PGDBM) courses for the academic year 2011-12.

Division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice SJ Vazifdar today stayed the circulars issued by the stategovernment and the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) stating that they would conduct a single CET foradmission to all PGDBM courses.

The association of private unaided institutes had opposedthe decision by moving HC. It said colleges had alreadychalked out CET schedules.

Yet, the state published a notice on January 1, 2011stating it itself would conduct a single CET, for allcolleges.

"It is not possible to have a single common entrancetest with same pattern and eligibility as there are severaldisciplines and categories in the courses. Single windowsystem cannot be endorsed by the government here as is done inmedical and engineering courses," said senior advocate AspiChinoy, appearing for the petitioner. .
