Is it games up for CWG Ex-OC Chief Suresh Kalmadi?

New Delhi, Feb 24: After the arrest of key Kalmadi aides, Lalit Bhanot and VK Verma, the CBI is training its guns on the man himself, tainted Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organizing Committee (OC) Chief Suresh Kalmadi. After the many scams that emerged out of the CWG, Kalmadi had evaded arrest all this while, but this time around, it looks like the time is up for him.

Sources within the CBI has revealed that Kalmadi will be arrested in as soon as a week for his alleged involvement in the CWG Overlays scam. He is also facing the scanner for intentionally delaying projects. An FIR is likely to be filed against him soon. The CWG scam has catapulted to a major embarrassment for the government with considerable loss to the country's exchequer.

Yesterday (Feb 23) saw the arrest of the Bhanot and Verma, who were being questioned in a Swiss-deal for a time-keeping equipment contract that led to a loss of Rs 107 crore. The turn of events indicating that the sleuths might be trailing Kalmadi's footsteps rather closely. There is also hearsay that Kalmadi might be arrested after the National Games in Jharkhand winds up on Feb 26.
