Services rule the roost in canoeing and kayaking

Dhanbad, Feb 22 (PTI) Promising Chingching Arambam ofManipur and Services Sports Control Board''s Jemsboy Oinamtoday added a gold medal each to their tally to make it twoapiece on the penultimate day of the canoeing and kayakingcompetitions of the 34th National Games here.

Having clinched the 1000m men''s singles kayaking, Arambamwon the 500m singles at the Maithon Dam here en route to hissecond yellow metal.

Digvijay Negi (Services) and 18-year old Ramkrishna ofMadhya Pradesh bagged the silver and bronze medalsrespectively.

In the 500m men''s singles canoeing, Ankit of MadhyaPradesh finished on top but he was disqualified, which gaveOinam his second gold as Services ruled the canoeing andkayaking event with five gold and three silver medals.

Bhakta Singh of Andhra Pradesh and Adil Mohiudin Bhat ofJammu and Kashmir won the silver and bronze medals in thecategory.

Bhanu Bordoloi of Assam was disqualified in the 500mwomen''s singles kayaking following which Kiro Ragina ofAndaman Nicobar was adjudged winner.

Nanao Devi A of Manipur and Silpamol of Kerala won thesilver and bronze medals in this event.

The duo of Minimol and Simimol won the 500m women''sdoubles kayaking while Andaman pair of Sandhya Kispotta andRagina Kiro settled for silver.

Shusila Devi Konjengbam and Bony Devi Laishram of Manipurbagged the bronze medals.

Andaman finished on the second spot behind Services inthe medals tally of canoeing and kayaking medals with a haulof 3-1-0.
