High-tech surveillance system set up at police academy
Nashik, Feb 22 (PTI) To strengthen security at theMaharashtra Police Academy (MPA), a high-tech surveillancesystem has been put in place at the city-based institute.
Maharashtra Director General of Police D Shivanandanyesterday inaugurated the surveillance system at the academy,which provides training to police officers and is spreadacross 250 acres.
He said the system was necessitated after it wasrevealed that alleged Lashkar-e-Tayyaba operative ShaikhLalbaba Mohammed Hussain alias Bilal, arrested from the citylast year, had surveyed the MPA as a possible terror target.
The system will register every vehicle and itsregistration number entering into MPA through CCTVs and canwork in any climatic condition, sources in the academy said.
The system was developed by MPA by adopting technologyfrom three countries -- Israel, US and Norway, they said. PTICOR
