26 people with Naxal and insurgents links held in Delhi since
2008: Govt
New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) 26 people having links with CPI(Maoists) and north eastern insurgent groups were arrested inDelhi in the last three years, the government said today butmaintained that it had no specific information that thenational capital has become a den of such outfits.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police was keeping a watch onthe movement of Maoists and insurgents from north easternstates and a nodal officer has been nominated to monitor theiractivities, Minister of State for Home M Ramachandran said ina written reply in Lok Sabha.
"There is no specific information that Maoists andinsurgents from the north eastern states are trying to gainfoot-hold in the national capital," he said.
While one such person was arrested in 2008, eleven werenabbed in 2009 and 14 last year, he said.
"One inspector in every police station has been deputedas Anti-terrorist Officer and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) havebeen placed at strategic locations. Local intelligence at thepolice station level is also collected," he said.
