New Delhi, Feb 21 (PTI) Sprucing up security measures,the police today asked landlords in south Delhi not to renttheir houses to anyone without conducting verification andasked cyber cafe owners to allow people use their facilitiesonly after establishing their identities.
An order in this regard has been issued by H G SDhaliwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District.
The order came in view of apprehensions that terrorist oranti-social elements may seek hideouts in these areas or useinternet facilities to help terrorist activities.No owner of any house or property which falls under thejurisdiction of South District will rent out any accommodationto any person unless and until he has furnished theparticulars of the tenant to the Station House Officerconcerned, the order said.
The order will come into force with effect from tomorrowand remain in force for 60 days.
The police stations under the South District are HauzKhas, Malviya Nagar, Saket, Mehrauli, Fatehpur Beri, NebSarai, Defence Colony, K M Pur, Vasant Vihar, Vasant KunjNorth and South, Dhaula Kuan, Safdarjang Enclave, SarojiniNagar and R K Puram.
The police have also asked cyber cafe owners in theseareas not to allow people to use their facilities withoutestablishing their identity. The users can show identity card,voter card, ration card, driving licence, passport or photocredit card.
The owners will have to maintain a register for identityof the user mentioning name, address, telephone number andidentity proof.
