Supaul (Bihar), Feb 22 (PTI) Two Special AuxillaryPolice (SAP) jawans were injured in a clash with a group offarmers who were agitating seeking compensation for damage totheir crops due to squalls in Gambhirpur village underTriveniganj police station in Bihar''s Supaul district, policesources said.
The SAP jawans were trying to control 500-odd farmersat Gambhirpur, Pipra and Banvama villages while they hadblocked the national highway in support of their demand forcompensation when the clash broke out, sources said.
The farmers attacked SAP jawans injuries two of them,they said, adding the cops later fired in the air to dispersethe agitators.
The district magistrate Ravi Kumar and thesuperintendent of police Vinod Kumar rushed on the spot andprevailed upon the protesters to call off their stir assuringthem that their demands will be forwarded to the authorities.
A squall had lashed Supaul and other districts onFebruary 17, damaging standing crops in several areas.
