New Delhi, Feb 21 (PTI) A scrap dealer allegedlyinvolved in buying stolen wires and electric transformers fromKotputli in Rajasthan has been arrested, police said today.
Stolen aluminium wire worth more than Rs three lakhand four electric transformers have been recovered from61-year-old Kishan Lal Chawla from his godown in Nihal Viharin Nangloi, said Ashok Chand, Deputy Commissioner of Police(Crime and Railways).
Acting on a tip off that a scrap dealer in Nangloi hadreceived stolen goods, police raided his godown and arrestedChawla - a resident of Vishnu Garden - on February 18.
Two tones of aluminium wire worth Rs three lakh andfour electric transformers were seized alongwith a truck, theofficial said, adding during interrogation the accused saidthat he had recived the goods from his associate inKotputli in Rajasthan.
Chawla, a diploma holder in mechanical engineering,was wanted in three cases of ''receiving stolen property'', onein Alwar, another at Jaipur and the third at Nooh in Mewat inHaryana.
Chawla had been shifting base regularly to evade thethe police and about a year back he had rented a godown inNihal Vihar for storing stolen goods.
He is also a proclaimed offender in the caseregistered in Khaju Industrial Area police station in Alwar,Rajasthan.
