Hyderabad, Feb 21 (PTI) The Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) will open as many as 77 passport seva kendras (passportfacilitation centres) across the country by the year end tofacilitate faster processing of applications, a top MEAofficial said today.
After the opening of the new centres, passportinvestigation will be done online and the data will betransferred electronically, said K N Shrivastava, additionalsecretary and financial advisor to the MEA.
"The new online system will help people to get passportsfaster. Soon passport seva project will have 77 such kendrasbeing set up across India, including seven offices in AndhraPradesh. Three Kendras will be opened in Hyderabad by July orAugust," Shrivastava told reporters on the sidelines of theOverseas Employers Conference a two-day event being held here.
He said under this new system passport investigationswill be done online and the data will be transferredelectronically.
According to him, seven pilot projects have beencurrently taken up, including four projects in Karnataka andthree in North India. (More) PTI COR GDK VKV
