Maha govt to soon decide on shifting Kasab to other jail
Mumbai, Feb 21 (PTI) The Maharashtra government will soontake a decision on whether to shift Pakistani terrorist AjmalKasab from Arthur jail to some other prison after his deathsentence was upheld by the Bombay High Court today.
"We have not yet decided over shifting Kasab to someother jail. I will soon discuss the issue with officials ofthe Home Department," Home Minister R R Patil said today.
"Kasab is provided high security at the Arthur Road jail.
Proper arrangements would have to be in place prior to hisshifting," an official from the Home Department said.
Earlier, a proposal of shifting Kasab to Yerwada jail inPune was under consideration. But since his case was pendingbefore High Court, no final decision was taken on theproposal.
The Pakistani gunman is lodged in solitary confinement inan egg-shaped cell at the high security Arthur Road jail inthe central part of city.
Only the under trials are kept in Arthur Road jails. PTISSG VKV
