Amritsar, Feb 21 (PTI) The first Sikh in US ArmyTejdeep Singh Rattan, who joined the force without sacrificingthe articles of his faith, today visited the city and sharedhis experiences with college students.
While interacting with students of Khalsa College, hisalma mater, Rattan said he "faced many ups and downs in life,but emerged victorious on every occasion."
He said "never say die attitude" help him to reach hisgoal.
Rattan, a 31-year-old dentist, was graduated last yearfrom the Army Officer Course after the force made an exemptionto a uniform policy that has effectively prevented Sikhs fromenlisting since 1984. He will soon be commissioned to serve inAfghanistan as Captain in US Army.
"Sikhs mean a lot to the world," he said, adding thatin future too he would follow the ethics of Sikhism in letterand spirit.
College Principal Daljit Singh honoured him on theoccasion.
