Bangalore, Feb 21 (PTI) Wipro, the global IT services majorand a leading provider of IT and business transformationservices, has achieved a milestone by turning ten in theMiddle East.
Wipro, which commenced operations in the UAE and SaudiArabia in 2001, today has a presence spread across Sharjah,Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Al Kobar, Riyadh, Jeddah andBahrain.
The company has 1300 employees servicing the region and 100plus customers, a company release said.
The company has two near shore development centres in theregion at Dubai and Egypt to service customers in the MiddleEast.
In Saudi Arabia, the largest market in the region, thecompany has a successful joint venture called Wipro ArabiaLimited (WAL) between Wipro Ltd and Dal Al Riyadh forservicing clients in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking on the occasion, Anand Sankaran, Senior VicePresident and Business Head, India, Middle East and Africa,Wipro said, "Middle East has proved to be the growth enginefor Wipro among emerging markets. In the last three years, theMiddle East region has grown 100 per cent in terms of revenuesand we expect the momentum to continue. We are looking atexpanding our presence further in the region, as we see freshopportunities coming up in Kuwait and Qatar."
Wipro�s clients in the region include King AbdullahUniversity of Science and Technology (KAUST) where the companyhas implemented a turnkey ERP-Student Life Cycle Managementsolution � first of its kind in the industry.
The company is managing their entire IT infrastructure andapplications, end to end for Saudi Arabian Airlines.
It is also engaged with the Road Transport Authority (RTA),Dubai, where it is managing their IT environment includingData Center, networks, security and RTA�s CustomerPortal accessed by general public for all eServices.
