Six Moallim-e-Urdu degree holders climb atop water tank
Lucknow, Feb 21 (PTI) Six Moallim-e-Urdu degree holders,including three women, today climbed atop a water tankdemanding Uttar Pradesh government recognise their degreeequivalent to Basic Training Certificate (BTC), police said.
The protesters climbed atop the water tank in DarulshafaMLAs hostel and have demanded a meeting with Chief MinisterMayawati to press for the recognition of their degree andappointment as Urdu teachers in primary schools, they said.
The agitators have been identified as Baby Shabana,Mansoor Alam, Nafeesur Rehman, Nujahat Jahan, Ishrat Jahan andMohd Azam, they said.
"If CM is busy then we should be given a government orderrecognising our degree equivalent to BTC, otherwise we willstart jumping one by one and commit suicide after 4 pm," oneof the protesters said.
