Mumbai, Feb 21 (PTI) A two-day seminar on �TechnicalDocumentation for Naval Warships (TECHDOC-2011)�, held heresaw papers presented by various agencies involved inshipbuilding including foreign shipyards and DRDO labs.
Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western NavalCommand, Vice Admiral S Bhasin, inaugurated the seminar,which concluded on Saturday at the INHS Asvini auditorium, aDefence spokesperson said.
The keynote address to the seminar was delivered by ViceAdmiral Ganesh Mahadevan, Chief of Material of the IndianNavy. Delegates from Navy, DRDO, Indian and foreign Shipyardsand representatives from the Indian industry attended theseminar.The seminar was aimed at reviewing current practicesfollowed in generating technical documentation for life timeexploitation of ships in the Navy and to find a way ahead inimproving the maintainability and operational availability ofthe ships to meet the emerging challenges in coastal andmaritime security of the nation.
The deliberations during the seminar were extremelyuseful in firming up a road map to consolidate the nation�sshipbuilding capability and effective deployment of theseships by the Navy, the spokesperson said.
The seminar was organised by the Directorate ofQuality Assurance, Warship Projects.
