Police detects 160 cases, seizes property worth over Rs 1.68cr

Bangalore, Feb 21: Solving 160 cases of dacoity, robbery, burglary, theft, chain snatching and vehicle theft in the past one month, police recovered property worth over Rs 1.68 crore.

City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters here today that "105 persons have been nabbed in these cases and property worth Rs 1,68,43,332 have been seized from them."

Important cases include arrest of an inter-state criminal Munna alias Bombay Munna (36) allegedly involved in six theft cases and recovery of property worth Rs 30 lakh including 900 grams of gold ornaments worth over Rs 20 lakh.

Bidari said that Munna was earlier involved in 36 inter-state theft cases. He had also committed theft of Rs 9 crore from the house notorious underworld criminal Chota Rajan in Mumbai in 2001. He was arrested by Pune police and subsequently released from jail in Jul 2010. Later, he along with his associates committed a series of house thefts in Pune, Jaipur and Hyderabad.

The other significant case was the arrest of three vehicle thieves by the Banashankari police and recovery of vehicles worth over Rs 12 lakh from them.
