Jamshedpur, Feb 20 (PTI) Jharkhand archers are raring togo as their event in the 34th National Games kicks off withthe Indian round at JRD Tata sports complex here tomorrow.
Jharkhand archers comprised CWG gold medalist DeepikaKumari, Jayant Talukdar in recurve section, internationalsJhanu Hansda, Namita Yadav and Manjudha Soy and they are allin their good nick to grab medals in compound section.
Around 270 archers from across the country taking part inthe National Games took part in the official practice at thecomplex today.
An official of Jharkhand Archery Association (JAA)claimed that the state team studded with international archersin both men and women are confident to win maximum medals inthe competition.
"Our men and women recurve team comprised Deepika Kumari,Laxmi Rani Majhi, Rimil Biruli and Seema Verma (women) andArjuna awardees Jayant Talukdar, Mangal Singh Champia, AtanuDas and Pawan Xalxo were all best form to win the medals," theofficial said.
"While the men''s section has no major threat barringServices, the women team may face challenge from Manipur,Assam and Andhra Pradesh," he said.
Bengal, which will be without world champion DolaBanerjee, will also put up some contest.
However, Bengal men''s team has strengthened following theinclusion of international archer and CWG gold medalist RahulBanerjee.
International archers Jhanu Hansda and Manjudha Soyadmitted that the compound section would witness tough contestas Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab, Assam and Assam have goodarchers to compete with.
