Jharkhand and Mizoram to fight in sub-junior football final

Kolkata, Feb 21 (PTI) Reigning champions Jharkhandentered the final of the national sub-junior footballchampionship (under-16) for Mir Iqbal trophy when they edgedpast Orissa 1-0 in the penultimate stage of the match heretoday.

While the group league matches were held at Barasatand Khardah stadium in North 24 Parganas, the last four stagesof the tournament were held at East Bengal ground in Kolkatamaidan.

In an evenly fought semi-final, the match went to theextra time as neither side could score in regulation time.

Striker Nakeur Rahaman Ansari scored the all important goal inthe 7th minute of the extra time to guide Jharkhand into thefinal.

In the title clash Jharkhand will take on Mizoram who,in the second semi-final today, ousted host Bengal by asolitary goal scored by David.

Though Bengal made a series of raids and dominatedproceedings in the second half, they failed to score becauseof poor finishing by their strikers.

The final will be played on February 24.
