Nagpur, Feb 20 (PTI) The Event Technical Committee of theICC today allowed the West Indies team management to replaceinjured Carlton Baugh and Adrian Barath with Kirk Edwards andDevon Thomas respectively in their World Cup squad.
"The confirmation was conveyed to the West Indies CricketBoard on behalf of the committee," ICC said in a release.
Any injury-based replacement requires a writtensubmission to the event technical committee along with adiagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of theinjury. Once replaced, a player cannot return to the squad.
Edwards is a 26-year-old right handed batsman who has notrepresented the West Indies before, while the 21-year-oldwicketkeeper-batsman Thomas has played for the West Indies intwo ODIs.
Baugh and Barath are the ninth and 10th players to bereplaced in the tournament after Ed Rainsford, TinotendaMawoyo and Sean Ervine of Zimbabwe, Australia�s Nathan Hauritzand Michael Hussey, Praveen Kumar of India, England�s EoinMorgan and Sohail Tanvir of Pakistan were earlier replaced.
As with all players in the tournament, the eligibility ofa replacement player is subject to approval by the ICC beforethat player can be officially added to the squad.
