Bhopal, Feb 21 (PTI) With an aim to provide sheltersto the 52,000 rural homeless people, Madhya Pradesh ChiefMinister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch a rural housingmission at Sukaldhana village in neighbouring Hoshangabaddistrict tomorrow.
The housing project christened Chief Minister''s RuralHousing Mission is being initiated with the stategovernment''s financial help, officials said.
Chouhan had announced about the Mission in VidhanSabha on May 14 last year after realising that homeless peoplewere not being provided home under existing plans, they added.
Under the mission, any person residing in a villagewith an annual income of less than Rs 1.25 lakh per annum whoowns land to construct a house is an eligible beneficiary,they said.
The unit cost of a house is Rs 70,000 which includesbeneficiaries'' own contribution of Rs 10,000, Rs 30,000 asState government''s subsidy and a loan amount of Rs 30,000,they added.
However, if the beneficiary wants to construct abigger unit and based on his ability to repay as per thebank''s assessment, the loan amount can go up to Rs 45,000,they said.
The beneficiary can also increase his own contributingand build a bigger house, they added.
The Mission envisages providing quality and affordablehousing by providing beneficiaries a range of choice of housedesigns, officials said.
Houses will be constructed on a minimum area of 225square feet including one room, kitchen, toilet, bathroom andveranda, they said.
