Jammu, Feb 20 (PTI) Army''s Northern Command today senta group of 30 elderly from Udhampur district of Jammu andKashmir to Rajasthan on a recreational tour.
The group left Garhi cantonment in Udhampur, 60 kmfrom here, to Rajasthan where they will visit Jaipur, Jodhpurand Jaisalmer, an Army spokesperson said, adding that theywill return on February 28.
The recreational tour is a part of the people-friendlyOperation Sadbhavana and provides an opportunity to manymembers of the group, who never ventured outside Uddampur, tosee other places, the spokesperson said.
During the tour, these elderly will visit numeroustourist, cultural and historical destinations such as JantarMantar, City Place, Govind Dev Ji Ka Mandir, Hawa Mahal, AmerFort, Nahargarh and Jaigarh (all in Jaipur), Mahrangarh Fort,Ummed Bhawan Place and Mandore Garden (all in Jodhpur);Jaisalmer Fort, Patvo Ki Haveli and Garsisar lake (all inJaisalmer).
This trip will provide an insight on vast and richheritage of the country, including language, food, habitat andcustoms, he added.
