Sri Lanka win toss, elect to bat against Canada

Hambantota (Sri Lanka), Feb 20 (PTI) Sri Lankan captainKumar Sangakkara won the toss and elected to bat first intheir opening Group A match against Canada in the cricketWorld Cup here today.

Sri Lanka left out fast bowlers Dilhara Fernando andLasith Malinga for the opener while middle order batsmanChamara Silva has been ruled out for the opener due to a deathin the family.

This is the first international match played at thevenue.

Teams:

Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara (C), Mahela Jayawardene,Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Thilan Samaraweera,Chamara Kapugedera, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, NuwanKulasekara, Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis.

Canada: Ashish Bagai (C), Rizwan Cheema, Harvir Baidwan,Tyson Gordon, Henry Osinde, John Davison, Ruvindu Gunasekera,Khurram Chohan, Jimmy Hansra, Zubin Surkari and Balaji Rao.

Umpires: Shavir Tarapore (India) and Ian Gould (Eng)
