Centre says ready to help Orissa govt

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) The Centre today said it was inconstant touch with the Orissa government and ready to offerany help for the release of Malkangiri Collector R V Krishnaand a junior engineer, abducted by Naxals on Wednesday.

Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of HomeAffairs Utthan Kumar Bansal said the Orissa government hasbeen trying its best to free the IAS officer from thehands of Maoists.

"The MHA is in constant touch with the state governmentand ready to offer any help to rescue the collector," he toldreporters here.

Orissa government said it has established contact withtwo mediators handpicked by the Naxals to negotiate therelease of the two officials.
