Snow, rains bring down mercury in N India
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, there was decline in temperatures after rains in parts of the region.
Amritsar in Punjab, which was lashed by rainsyesterday, was the coldest place with a minimum temperature of6.1 degrees Celsius, one below normal.
In Haryana, Ambala, which received light rains,recorded a low of 10.1 deg C, while the low at Hisar settledat 7.1 deg C, down one notch. Union Territory ChandigarhChandigarh, which was also lashed by rains, recorded alow of 9.5 deg C, while during the day mercury climbed to 21deg C.
Even in Uttar Pradesh, day temperature stayed belownormal with Lucknow recording 20 deg C during the day, almostsix places below normal. In night, mercury dipped to 13 deg Cin the city.
In ''Pink city'' Jaipur, mercury plunged 5 deg belownormal in the daytime to 21 deg C, while in night reading was12 deg C.
