PM-appointed panel can address issues raised by Antony:Moily
New Delhi, Feb 17 (PTI) With Defence Minister A K Antonyclaiming that a mistake has been committed in reaching theS-band allocation deal, Law Minister M Veerappa Moily todaysaid the issue can be addressed by B K Chaturvedi Committeeset up by the Prime Minister to look into the matter.
"They have done some mistake.... S-Band is mainly forthe strategic forces and in which our services - army, navy,air force - they have got major stake," Antony told reportershours after the Cabinet Committee on Security scrapped theAntrix-Devas Multimedia deal.
Commenting on Antony''s remarks, Moily told PTI that theissues raised by the Defence Minister "can be a subjectmatter" before the B K Chaturvedi Committee set up by PrimeMinister Manmohan Singh.
The two-member committee will review the technical,commercial, procedural and financial aspects of the agreementbetween Antrix and Devas Multimedia Pvt Ltd.
Moily also said the decision to scrap the deal was a"very calibrated decision" and he was confident on thelegality of the decision.
To a question on alleged delay in scrapping the deal, theLaw Minister said when a particular agreement has to beannulled, "you need to examine various issues so that we(government) are very confident on the ground that theannulment stands valid.
