The government said that for a period of one year the practice of giving the figures in the present form, withoutquoting the inflation rate, would be continued .
This will be "till the series gets stabilised" andadequate timely receipt of price data is achieved.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementationfurther said all the states have not been included in the newcalculations as figures from some of them are yet to becompiled.
These consumer indices have been released for five majorgroups -- food, beverages and tobacco; fuel and light;housing; clothing, bedding and footwear; and miscellaneous.
As per the data released today, "food, beverages andtobacco" went up to 108 on a national basis in January, while"fuel and light" were at 106.
"Clothing, bedding and footwear" in the month under reviewstood at 107 while "housing" remained constant at 100.
