Hyderabad, Feb 17 (PTI) Expressing concern over theabduction of Malkangiri District Collector Ravella VineelKrishna by the Maoists, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N KiranKumar Reddy today sought for information regarding the IASofficer that would help in his safe return.
The 30-year-old district collector of Malkangiri waskidnapped last evening by a group of 50 Maoists when he was ona visit to the remote Chitrakonda area, a Maoist strongholdabout 85 km from here, to attend a camp for local development,police said.
Following directions from the Chief Minister, ChiefSecretary S V Prasad spoke to his counterpart in Orissa D KPatnaik over phone and requested to make all efforts to getexact information about Krishna''s whereabouts and help hissafe return, a release from the CMO said.
Krishna, a native of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh,who was an alumnus of IIT Madras (2002 batch, civilengineering) went on secure 28th rank in the Civils (UPSCexams) in the country and had topped the IAS ranking from thestate, according to his relatives here.
He had been posted in Malkangiri district of Orissa forthe past 15 months and had been working relentlessly for thewelfare of the tribals in the Maoist-hit district, they said.
