J-K retrieves 34 acres of encroached plots
Jammu, Feb 17 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir government hasretrieved over 34 acres after the launch of anti-encroachmentdrive in the district.
District authorities have retrieved 225 kanals ofEvacuee Property land and 50 kanals (34 acres) of state landfrom the grabbers in Panchwati village near the city, RamanBhalla, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, toldreporters here during an inspection.
Bhalla had asked the Revenue Officers to retrieveEvacuee Property (EP) and state land from the grabbers intheir respective jurisdictions.
He further said that government has established aspecial complaint cell in the offices of Deputy Commissionersfor collecting information about EP and state landencroachments across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister directed the EP and state landauthorities to demolish the structures on the retrieved landand fence it properly.
Government has also received complaints regarding fakeallotments of state and EP land in different areas, he said.
He asked them to inquire into the complaints andreport to higher authorities for further necessary action.
The minister appealed to the people to lodgeinformation regarding land-grabbers on [email protected].
He said the government is planning to constructbanquet halls, shopping complexes and flats on EP land acrossthe state to generate income.
