Hyderabad, Feb 17 (PTI) Lok Satta Party President and MLAN Jayaprakash Narayan today said he did not consider theattack on him by TRS MLAs in assembly premises as a personalattack but an assault on democracy.
"I do not view it as a personal attack on me but anassault on democracy itself," he told reporters here.
The TRS MLAs allegedly beat up Jayaprakash Narayan andCongress MLC Paladugu Venkata Rao in the premises of theAndhra Pradesh Assembly today.
The incident occurred after the TRS MLAs tried tomanhandle Governor E S L Narasimhan inside the House duringhis address to the joint sitting of both the houses on theopening day of the Budget Session.
Disclosing that he did not lodge a complaint againstanybody for the attack, Narayan said he believed that the"Chair is competent enough" to take all steps to preservedemocracy and ensure smooth conduct of the House.
He appealed to the people not to react violently.
Stating that some people seemed to be wishing to silencethe voice of those who enjoyed credibility because they alwaysspoke facts, Narayan said, "Facts do not go... whether thereis Jayaprakash Narayan or no Jayaprakash Narayan. Dharma andjustice will always triumph."
Narayan called on Paladugu Venkat Rao, who was admittedto the hospital due to high blood pressure among other thingsin the aftermath of the incident.
