Ahmedabad, Feb 17 (PTI) Gujarat''s Minister of Statefor Industries Saurabh Patel today accused the centre ofindecisiveness on the issue of GST and alleged that its policyon the subject ignored financial benefits of states.
"The helplessness shown by Prime Minister ManmohanSingh on the issue of GST during the interaction session withmedia yesterday clearly shows that the union government isdirectionless on the issue," Patel said.
"Gujarat had suggested an alternative model for GSTroll out," he said.
"The union government was attempting to hide itsinefficiency on the issue by putting the blame on thestates," he said.
"Chief Minister of Tamilnadu has written to the PM onthree counts suggesting changes in GST policy and pointingtowards issue of financial autonomy of the states," Patelsaid.
"It clearly shows that it is not only the BJP ruledstates which are objecting to centre''s policy on GST," hesaid.
Patel has demanded that all the minutes of meetingsheld between the states and the union government should bemade public so that people could understand the attitude ofthe centre.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during hismeeting with the Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee hadpointed out that first IT infrastructure should be in placeotherwise GST roll out would lead to losses, he said.
