Current Indian team is best ever, says Kumble

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) Former India captain Anil Kumblefeels the current team is the best ever and has all theingredients needed to be a great one-day unit.

"In terms of confidence and balance of the side, this isthe best Indian team ever," Kumble said.

"If you look at the track record of this team in last oneyear or one and half year they have done exceptionally well, especially at home. They have all the elements that a greatone-day side needs," he added.

The legendary leg-spinner also said the present team ledby Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a far more superior side than theone under Sourav Ganguly''s captaincy during 2003 World Cupthat took place in South Africa.

"It is a better team overall than 2003. In terms ofbalance and conditions here (sub-continent) this is the betterside," Kumble was quoted as saying by ''CNN-IBN''.

He, however, added that some bowlers like Zaheer Khan andAshish Nehra were much younger then and could generate morepace.

"But if you go back to 2003 then Ashish Nehra, Zaheer andall these bowlers were younger and were bowling at the speedof 140 which does not happen now.

Kumble, who is now the President of the Karnataka StateCricket Association (KSCA), said it was the fighting spirit ofthis bunch of players that has bowled him over.

"What has impressed me most is how they have won inlosing situations.

"In South Africa, Munaf Patel won one match, Yusuf Pathanwon a game, so it''s not a one man team at all," said Kumble.
