Canada Government funds film about Hindu Lord Shiva

Nevada (US), Feb 18 (ANI): Canada Government has reportedly funded a documentary on Lord Shiva, one of the divine trio of the Hindus-Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva.

Titled "The Great Night of Shiva", which is premiering on February 23, revolves around extremely auspicious Mahashivaratri festival celebrated in honor of Lord Shiva, which falls on March three this year.

Welcoming this Canada Government gesture, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed has described it as "a step in the right direction".

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that Canada Government should fund more Hinduism focused film projects as Hinduism was a storehouse of wisdom and Canada had considerable and increasing population of Hindus.

Produced by award-winning May Street Productions of Victoria (British Columbia, Canada) and directed by Peter Campbell; "The Great Night of Shiva" depicts temple rituals, worship, Bharatnatyam by Kiruthika Rathanaswami, etc.; using the green screen technology, imagery from the Hubble telescope and special effects. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal. (ANI)
