Arunachal and Assam police to coordinate

Itanagar, Feb18 (PTI) Police officials from ArunachalPradesh and neighbouring Assam are planning to coordinate witheach other to thwart designs of the anti-talk faction of theNDFB to carry out subversive activities in the state.

The coordination would help keep tabs on the activitiesand movement of the underground elements and prevent theirillegal activities, police said.

Three suspected NDFB cadre wanted by Assam police wereapprehended by a joint police team of both sides in a surpriseraid conducted in Chandranagar area near here on Tuesday last,the police said.

The rebel cadre have allegedly snatched a licensed 12 boreSBBL gun and a few live cartridges from Nabam Taring ofHollongi village and cash from the car of Arunachal PradeshCongress Committee (APCC) secretary Byabang Nukh parked atSatrong Nallah on February 14 last.

While threatening Nukh with dire consequences,the cadre demanded rupees five lakh for returning the gun,APCC spokesman Vishal P Nabam said in a statement today.

"The incident is a violation of the bilateral treatysigned between the Nyishi and Bodo communities a few yearsback in Itanagar to maintain peace in the boundary areas andto stop threats and extortion to Arunachalees by Bodomilitants", Nabam pointed out.
