New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) East Bengal stopper Uga Okparawas today slapped with a two-match suspension and a fine of Rs20,000 while Mohun Bagan forward Asim Biswas'' suspension hasbeen extended by one match by the AIFF disciplinary committee.
The two were involved in a brawl during an I-League derbybetween the two sides in which East Bengal coach Trevor Morganalso took part.
Mohun Bagan have also been slapped with a fine of Rs50,000, under article 53 of the AIFF disciplinary code, forearning eight yellow cards, while their opponents were finedRs 25,000 for getting four yellow during the high-voltagematch.
Since Morgan has already undergone suspension for onematch, the committee has requested the AIFF to send a letterto him to condone his actions and ensure that such incidentsdo not happen again.
"Since his (Okpara''s) action has tarnished the image ofan official, he is liable for action under section 3 article54 of the AIFF disciplinary committee code," the AIFF statedin a press release here today.
The meeting was presided by disciplinary committeechairman, NA Khan, and attended by vice-chairman RakeshBakshi, and members Uma Prasad Mukherjee and DS Sivasamy atthe Football House here.
