Hyderabad, Feb 17 (PTI) Bedlam prevailed in the AndhraPradesh Legislature today as TRS and TDP MLAs hailing fromTelangana region virtually manhandled Governor E S LNarasimhan as he was delivering the customary address to thejoint sitting of both houses on the opening day of the BudgetSession.
The TRS MLAs first uprooted the mike and later thelectern as the Governor began his address.
Suddenly, two TDP MLAs � A Revanth Reddy and MahenderReddy � rushed from behind and pulled down the chairs on thepodium.
In fact, Revanth Reddy surged towards the Governor andtried to pull him aside even as the Governor''s personalsecurity staff prevented the MLA.
The TRS MLAs also tore copies of the Governor�s speechand flung them at him while raising slogans "Governor goback".
TRS MLA T Harish Rao climbed the members'' table andtried to jump over the main podium but Marshals, who rushedinside the House, prevented him.His other colleagues stormedthe podium and tried to push the Governor.
Council Chairman A Chakrapani and Assembly DeputySpeaker Nadendla Manohar pleaded with the unruly members withfolded hands not to resort to such acts but to no avail.
The TDP MLAs from Telangana region too joined theprotest and hurled their shawls at the Governor.
A large posse of plainclothes policemen (marshals)encircled the podium and stood guard to the Governor.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Leader ofOpposition N Chandrababu Naidu, former Chief Minister KRosaiah and other members were present as the bedlamcontinued.
Amidst the din, an unperturbed Governor continued hisspeech and completed it in nine-and-a-half minutes.
The entire proceedings lasted just about 14 minutes.
