CBI chief expects loss to be around Rs 50,000 cr

Opposition parties have dubbed the PM spineless, and the legal sphere has asked him regularly why he kept silent during the entire episode. All the while he has maintained a stoic silence, while people of his party and the opposition leaders have engaged in a vociferous war of words.

The PM is expected to answer questions and break his silence on the issue and whether he was aware of all the happenings. He may also speak on whether he was apprehensive regarding the stability of his government or does whether he feels that some of his colleagues in the cabinet took advantage of his clean image.

While there are no doubts regarding the impeccable integrity of Dr Singh, however, there are serious concerns in the public mind if he has fallen to the lure of staying in power by turning a blind eye to the excesses committed by coalition parties.

It will not be surprising if he tries to dodge certain questions, however, if he does that the doubts in the mind of the people will linger and may eventually tarnish the image that he has built and maintained. More than his personal loss, it will be a loss to the democracy and a loss of the public's faith in a man who always stood head and shoulders above the dirty mess that is Indian politics.
