Murmu seeks Jharkhand governor''s consent to prosecute Munda
Jamshedpur, Feb 16 (PTI) Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP)chief and former MP Salkhan Murmu today sought approval fromGovernor M O H Farook to prosecute Chief Minister Arjun Mundaon charge of violating constitutional provisions.
In a letter faxed to the Jharkhand governor today,Murmu said he has sought the gubernatorial consent toprosecute Munda for violating certain constitutionalprovisions.
Murmu alleged that the chief minister and theministers of his cabinet have taken oath under third scheduleof the constitution to enforce the law of land but thegovernment itself was violating rule 46(1) B in regard withenforcing Chhotanagar Tenancy Act (CNT) in the state.
Besides, the chief minister, who belonged to Tamariacaste as per land records of his ancestors, have beencontesting election from a reserved seat of Kharswan assemblyseat in Saraikela-Kharswan district since 1995 by producing adifferent caste certificate, Murmu alleged.
Murmu claimed that both the instances were violatonof constitutional provisions and a criminal offence primafacie.
The JDP leader demanded the governor should eitherallow him to lodge criminal case against Munda or mustconstitute a commission to look into the allegations.
