Double gold for Maharashtra women in air rifle event

Ranchi, Feb 15 (PTI) Maharashtra women dominated the airrifle event today by claiming both the individual gold medalsin the 34th National Games here.

On day one of the shooting competition at the TikaitUmrao Shooting Range in Mega Sports Complex here, PriyaAgarwal showed nerves of steel as she narrowly clinched thegold medal pipping statemate Pooja Ghatkar.

With a 9.9 in her final shot, Priya totalled 495.5 ascompared to 495.2 by Pooja, who lost despite shooting 10.4 inher last round.

Karnataka girl Kavitha V bagged the bronze with a totalof 494.6.

Maharashtra clinched the team gold totalling 1171, whileMadhya Pradesh (1166) bagged the silver and Delhi took thebronze with a total of 1163.
