Kolkata, Feb 15 (PTI) There was a commotion in frontof West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee''s officetoday when a woman in distress insisted on an audience withhim to narrate her family problem.
Referred by a source from CPI(M) headquarters onAlimuddin Street, Haji Shabnam accompanied by her minordaughter Simran entered the state secretariat Writers''Buildings with proper gate pass.
But she was denied to meet CM and was allowed to meetan officer in the CM secretariat, which made her unhappy asshe felt any people in the state have right to meet the CM.
"A woman in distress should have right to meet CM tonarrate her family problems," she said.
Tortured by her husband Abdul Karim of Metiabruz areain the city, Shabnam with her son Saddam and daughter Simranis now facing a crisis without any earning for livelihood.
Shabnam, who is now living under Karaya police stationarea with her children, said that power connection in herhouse was also disconnected because of non-payment of dues,
Her husband, who runs a shop, is now living in centralKolkata with another woman.
Despite her complaint to the local police station,Shabnam said she was not getting any redress and that is whyshe wanted to meet chief minister for redress.
After the CM left the state secretariat in theevening, the security officials ultimately managed to convinceher to return home with an assurance of help from the localpolice.
