Kohima, Feb 14 (PTI) College principals has urgedNagaland University authorities to weigh all pros a nd consbefore introducing ''on-line undergraduate examinations andsemester system'' in the varsity.
Nagaland College Principals Forum (NCPF) held anemergency meeting recently regarding the on-line undergraduateexaminations and semester system to be introduced in the stateby the university.
In this regard, the NCPF has written to the NagalandUniversity vice-chancellor referring to the apprehensions onthe implementation of the on-line delivery of question papersat the examination centres just one hour before thecommencement of the examination.
The principals, however, made it clear that the forumsupported the initiative to implement the conclusions arrivedat a ''Seminar on Examination Reforms and Management'' held onJuly 2 last year.
But since the university authorities proposed todeliver question papers online one hour before thecommencement of the examinations, the NCPF expressed concernthat given the erratic power and network problems in thestate, it might hinder the initiative.
"Instead of imposing EDC outright during last part ofJanuary this year, the university could have done a mockexercise on EDC well ahead of time, at least duringOctober/November last year", the forum said in the letter.
On the issue of introduction of semester system in2011, the NCPF asked the university to provide the collegeswith all the necessary materials, course structure and syllabiby March next as the first year degree classes would commencein May next.
Since introduction of semester system needs certainpreparations, the four member committee of principalssuggested the university introduced the new system from 2012acasemic session, the letter pointed out.
